About Dr. FoxMy Approach
My goal is to support my patients in reaching their optimal physical and emotional health. I am committed to providing quality, comprehensive mental health services by using a truly balanced and holistic approach. This all begins by listening, and understanding you and what you are experiencing. With this understanding we can then work together to build a pathway forward. This pathway may include counseling and therapy, relationship issue resolution, sleep adjustments, dietary changes, physical activity, supplemental reading, mindfulness practices, medication management, as well as many other useful treatment options. My Training Following medical school at the University of Virginia, I did a four year residency program in psychiatry at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill which included a final year as Chief Resident and the completion a Master’s Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in preventive medicine. I then went on to complete a one year fellowship in psychiatry at Duke University. I also continue to participate in lifelong training and learning about various therapy approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness based therapy, existential psychotherapy, and recent advances in medication management. Current Practice Upon completion of my fellowship, I returned to Charlottesville and opened my private practice. I have received board certification in general adult psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. |
